Golfing Holiday Situated on the Dublin side of Roscrea this course was originally designed as a nine-hole parkland course, however, following the purchase of a further 40 acres of land in 1991, Kerry's Dr Arthur Spring was commissioned to design a new 18-hole course of championship standard. This he did to perfection with the inclusion of sand based greens built to American approved standards. Roscrea's greens have been acclaimed by amateur and professional alike as being of the highest quality.

Sightseeing Holiday In the town are a number of monuments, situated beside the road. The Castle was allegedly built by King John in 1213, but was probably not erected until the middle of the 13th Century. The castle now stands in the grounds of Damer House, a centre in a fine early 18th Century building. St. Cronan's Church, Cross and Round Tower. The modern road cuts through a monastery founded by St. Cronan who died between 600 and 620. Of the 12th Century Romanesque church only the west facade remains, beside the road. On the opposite side of the road is a round tower. Franciscan Friary The gateway to the present Catholic parish church is part of a Franciscan friary founded before 1477. Only the east and north walls of the chancel, the bell tower and parts of the northern nave arcade remain. |
